Kyle stocked the champagne, waiting for the party who’d chartered the Funny Girl for the afternoon. He knew it was a bachelor party. He wasn’t excited, he’d probably have to hose the deck again. Thankfully there wouldn’t be strippers there, so small favors and all…

He just had to make it through this one last gig and he’d be free for the weekend. Kyle didn’t know why he was nervous about their big date tomorrow. Not like he and Eddy hadn’t seen each other almost every night for the last couple of months. Hell, they’d had plenty of nights in that Kyle liked to think of as date nights. They’d even hit the bar a couple of times together, but due to Eddy’s need to be circumspect they hadn’t done much outside their respective apartments. Kyle had only even managed to sleep over at Eddy’s once or twice, but just those times had been enough to make him ache for more.

He was trying to be understanding, but after so long, the closet he was chilling in with Eddy was starting to close in on him. He hoped this weekend would help with the restless feeling he was getting. He was hopelessly falling for Eddy and his sweet disposition, the incongruously kind man behind the rough exterior and brooding eyes, but he was plagued by thoughts of the other closet cases he’d been involved with. All those empty promises to come out were enough to make a boy insecure as hell.

He wanted what Heath had found—okay, maybe not the same thing. He didn’t think he or Eddy were quite in the place in their lives where becoming baby daddies was a good idea. But he wanted to have dinner with Eddy and his closest friends. He didn’t need PDA, or a proposal. He just wanted to hope for something more, and as long as they were stuck in the holding pattern they’d fallen into, he couldn’t allow himself to hope for too much. Maybe he’d at least get Eddy comfortable with himself. It sucked to think someone else might get the Eddy who was finally free of his past, of his closet. But Kyle would give him that if he had to because Eddy deserved happiness, even if it wasn’t with Kyle.

He sighed and tried to put his worries out of his mind. He’d be busy enough this afternoon without worrying about something he couldn’t do anything about right now. He went below deck and changed into his ridiculous captain’s uniform. Heath teased him for it, but Kyle liked it. They worked in a tourist heavy industry, most with money, so being able to poke fun at them with his pompous costume while looking the part and giving them a memorable experience was worth the teasing.

He heard voices and made his way back about deck to welcome his passengers. They were all smiles and golf shirts. Their fake tans were obvious in the summer sun and Kyle had to hold back the eye roll he so badly wanted to bestow on them.
